According to the Society for Advancement of Violence and Injury Research, more than 4.5 million people are bitten by dogs in the United States every year. Children are the most common victims of dog bites, and at least half of the 800,000 people who receive medical care for dog bites each year are children. Here are some guides to reduce the number of these injuries. Anyone who comes into contact with dogs should be educated about bite prevention, and dog owners should practice responsible dog guardianship.
In addition to causing injury, dog bite/attacks can also spread infections and germs, including rabies and other diseases. This is why even if you feel the bite was not bad, you should still seek medical care. See below for more information.
